color layers

Color Layers are really useful when editing images because it allows you to manipulate the color of anything you like! You can turn a black and white picture into colors. A blue car into an orange one. It's all up to you! Read on to learn more
FROM THIS:

TO THIS:

1. Open up your image in PS.

2. Click the Polygonal Lasso Tool: and go around an area in your picture, selecting what you want to add color to first (e.g. hair)

3. Create a new layer and set it to Color.

4. That area should still have a floating dotted line. Then, click on your brush tool:

5. Make sure it's set to a normal round brush and change your color palette to the color you want the area to be. Start coloring!

6. Over in your Layers window, click on the background layer (or whichever layer your ORIGINAL image is on) and repeat steps 2-6 until your satisfied with the coloring

REMEMBER: THE COLORS CAN BE AS REALISITIC AS YOU WANT OR AS UNREALISTIC!
