image mapping

What is it? Image-mapping is basically adding links to an image. It is very professinal.. and not to mention simple! Follow along with these steps:

1. First, make your layout and add the names of your pages as well. [example] Upload it to the web (using Imageshack, photobucket, etc)

2. Right click and copy the image. NOT the image url.

3. Now open up Microsoft Frontpage. Most computers should already have this program installed by default. Go to File> New> Page or Web.

4. A blank document should appear. Press Edit> Paste [CTRL + V] This will paste your chosen picture onto the space.

5. Next, go to Tools> Customize. Once the small window has come up, make sure that "Pictures" is checked off like so:

6. Back to your layout image, click on it so that little square points show up at the corners and sides. [example]

7. Then select the 'Rectanglular Hotspot' in your pictures toolbar

8. Click and drag your mouse over the text from corner to corner:

9. A window should pop up. Type in the address you want it to link to and click OK!

10. Repeat steps 7-9 for the rest of your pages.

11. Now look to the bottom of your screen where it says Normal, HTML, Preview. We are currently in Normal mode and need to select HTML

12. It will churn out a chunk of coding. Copy EVERYTHING and paste it on the index page of your site. Your image will not show up yet!

13. See this hi-lited part? Take it out and replace with the image URL from Step 1.

14. YOU'RE DONE =D
